Impressionism Exhibits – De Young Museum, San Francisco – UPDATED 2022
My husband and I went to see the “The Birth of Impressionism – Masterpieces from the Musee d’Orsay” exhibit at the De Young Museum over Labor Day weekend. What a treat! The Musee d’Orsay in Paris is closed for renovations and they have sent their art collections travelling around the world. In addition to Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas, Sisley, Degas, there were several less famous artists. Whistler’s Mother was even there. My favorite was “Les Barques, régates à Argenteuil” by Claude Monet, 1874. (see photo to left)
If you missed this exhibit, don’t worry. You can see still see “Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne and Beyond: Post Impressionist Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay”. It starts September 25 and goes through January 18, 2011. For more information, go to: http://deyoung.famsf.org/. [EVENT IS CLOSED]
