Power in Purple’s 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Party – Fight Against Cancer Fundraiser – UPDATED 2022

photo: Power in PurplePower In Purple is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Party fundraiser event. All proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The party includes a traditional Irish dinner and no host bar, raffle and silent auction, and dancing and live music provided by The SilverBacks. Don’t miss it!

The party is at the Almaden Golf & Country Club on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 6:00pm – 12:00am. Tickets are $35 each. Purchase your tickets now.

If you are unable to attend the party and wish to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Power in Purple, you can make a tax deductible donation. Power in Purple is currently at 83% of its team goal to raise $19,660 in 2011. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Operation Prom Dress 2011 in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Help prevent the tough economy from discouraging students to attend their Proms. The City of San Jose, in partnership with the Office of Councilmember Madison Nguyen, present Operation Prom Dress 2011.

Donate a new or gently used dress at the donation box inside Almaden Library through April 4, 2011. This is the third year in a row that Ms. Nguyen has led the effort to collect prom dresses for junior and senior girls to wear to their high school proms. In 2010 the drive collected more than 800 dresses.

In past years local dry cleaners, make up artists, and hair stylists have sponsored their services to some of the girls. If you would like to donate your services this year, whether for one girl or several, please contact Lan Thao Nguyen, Council Assistant to Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen, at 408-535-4959. 16th Annual / 2011 Big Band Dance at Pioneer High School – UPDATED 2022

This wonderful, fun-filled evening includes live music performances by Pioneer’s “S” Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band; dancing and brief ballroom dance lesson provided by Dance Boulevard at San Jose Dance Center; and appetizers, desserts, silent auction, and raffle prizes. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

A Holiday Teddy Bear Tea Party to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is being held on December 12, 2010 from 11am to 5pm at the Almaden Golf and Country Club. 3rd Annual / 2010 “Almaden Valley’s Run, Turkey, Run!” – Fun Runs and Shoe Drive – UPDATED 2022

Join Almaden Valley’s Run, Turkey, Run! on Thanksgiving Day for its annual fun run and shoe drive benefiting Soles4Souls. The race features 5K and 10K courses, with a combined start. Walkers are also welcome!

Registration for the event is free. Participants are asked to donate a pair of new or gently worn shoes for those in need. Shoe donations will be accepted from 7:30 to 10:30am on race day. Tax deductible donations are also accepted; all proceeds benefit Soles4Souls.

Almaden Valley’s Run, Turkey, Run! is a non-profit organization established by a group of Almaden Valley residents to foster community commitment to personal health and welfare, and community involvement and giving.

Almaden Valley’s Run, Turkey, Run! event offers sponsorship opportunities to local businesses, and volunteer opportunities to anyone who wishes to support the cause. Contact AVRTR at avrtr10k@gmail.com for more information about sponsoring or volunteering for the event.

The race starts at Leland High School on Thursday, November 25, 2010, from 8:30-10:30am. Bibs must be picked up prior to race start; they will not be mailed. Bib pick-up starts at 7:30am.
