2025 Run Turkey Run

It’s time for that great Almaden Valley Thanksgiving tradition – the Bret Harte Athletics & Booster Club’s 2025 Run Turkey Run 5K/10K! This year the family-fun turkey run will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27 at 8:30 am. The run starts and ends at Leland High School in scenic Almaden Valley, San Jose. Both the 5K and 10K courses are run on level terrain on the paved trails along the Alamitos Creek and the Open Space area.

2024 Run Turkey Run

Run Turkey Run is Back!

Almaden’s annual Thanksgiving “leftovers” Run Turkey Run event is finally back after the pandemic! The event will be held on Saturday, November 26th, at 8:30 AM. Run Turkey Run is a Thanksgiving-themed fundraiser which supports Bret Harte Middle School’s Booster Club. As many of you know, each year I support various fundraising events to benefit Almaden’s public schools, and right now I am proud to be one of the Gold Sponsors for this event.

Runners can participate in the 10k race, which begins at 8:30 am, or the 5k race, which begins at 8:40 am. The event is open to participants of all ages, and the run begins and finishes at Leland High School.

T-shirts and registration packets are available for purchase at Bret Harte Middle School’s cafeteria until November 25th for $35, and for $40 on November 26th for late registration on the day of the event. Pre-race packet pickups will be held at Bret Harte on Wednesday, November 23rd from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Friday, November 25th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Be sure to show your support for Bret Harte’s Booster Club by participating! Join in the fun!

Emerge 5K Run at Almaden Lake

5k run Almaden Lake This Saturday, August 6, take part in the “Emerge 5K Country Redneck Run” at Almaden Lake. The run is for adults and children alike, with a special starting time for the more serious timed runners. Registration opens at 8:30am. Country line dancing warm-ups begin at 9am and the race starts at 9:30am. The event will conclude with a closing ceremony, featuring a prize for best costume as well as running awards. Emerge 5K is presented by Journey for Jessica in partnership with The International Brain Research Foundation. For more information, visit emergejfj.com.

Almaden Soccer’s 1st Annual 5K/10K “Kick-off” Run

Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to participate in more fitness activities? If so, here’s an opportunity to start off 2015 with a “bang!” Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League and Almaden FC is holding their first annual “Kick Off” run on January 1st at Leland High School. This fun event is open to runners and walkers of all ages; everyone is welcome. For the competitive set, medals will be awarded to the top finishers, and all participants who finish their race will receive a pin. 2013 Almaden Haciendas Hills Run in Almaden Quicksilver Park

Enjoy the scenery of Almaden Quicksilver Park on a run on January 5, 2013. Races will start at 8:30 and 8:45am. The courses will be hilly and will wind through the park. Detailed maps can be found at Troy’s California Trail Runs.

The following options will be available to runners (listed with their respective registration prices): 5K is $45, 10K is $50, and 13.1 miles is $55.

2012 Almaden Hills Run Hosted by Troy’s California Trail Runs

Troy's California Trail Runs - Almaden Hills Enjoy the scenery of Almaden Quicksilver Park on a run on November 3, 2012 at 8am. Four fully stocked aid stations will be available during the run. Runners will also be given food at the end of the race – they are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The courses will be hilly with approximately 40% single track and 60% dirt roads.
