Pioneer High School 2010 / 2011 E-Waste Collection Events – UPDATED 2022

Logo: Pioneer High School Education FoundationPioneer High School Education Foundation is now holding its e-waste collection events on the first Saturday of each month throughout the 2010/2011 academic year. All proceeds benefit Pioneer High School’s academic and technology programs.

Discard your old computers, TVs, monitors, printers, cell phones, entertainment equipment, tools, small appliances, and any other electronic and battery-powered devices. Just drive up and volunteers will unload for you.

Businesses with large quantities of e-waste can have them picked up by contacting 1st Choice Recycling at [email protected] or 877-715-5515.

The event is at the Pioneer High School student parking lot, the first Saturday of each month, beginning September 4, 2010 and ending on May 7, 2011, from 9am to 4pm. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

2010 Los Alamitos Silent Auction in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Photo: Los Alamitos Elementary School signSupport the 2010 Los Alamitos Silent Auction. All proceeds benefit Los Alamitos Elementary School‘s award winning music, art, and science programs. Approximately $154,000 is needed for classroom supplies, programs, and events.

Bid on a number of fantastic items, including sporting events, concert tickets, restaurant gift certificates, hotel stays, vacation rentals, rounds of golf, and home décor. Also bid on premium items such as a guitar autographed by the members of U2, and a record album autographed by Michael Jackson. You can also support Los Alamitos by making a donation or by volunteering for the auction.

SeniorNet Learning Center of Almaden – Summer 2010 Registration and Courses – UPDATED 2022

SeniorNet Learning Center of Almaden ValleySeniorNet Learning Center of Almaden is offering more than a dozen different computer and software application courses this Summer.

SeniorNet is a national non-profit membership organization dedicated to building a community of computer-using seniors (ages 50 and over).

Courses range from an introduction to computers (no computer knowledge required) to intermediate and advanced courses in various software applications.

A sampling of the courses available this Summer include Windows operating systems, search engines, word processing, spreadsheets, photo editing, photo albums, and digital music.

Most of the courses are one day a week for two hours, and last from four to eight weeks. All classes are held at the Almaden Community Center.

The price for an annual membership to SeniorNet is $40. The annual renewal fee for existing members is $30. Individual courses range from $10 to $20 each.

Registration for Summer 2010 is at the Almaden Community Center on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:30am.

The program is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten by promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development. The curriculum focuses on phonics, science, writing skills, social science, problem-solving, music & movement, art, literature, cooking, and math.

The pre-k teacher/student ratio is 3:26. Holy Spirit School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

2010 Summer School & Camps at Holy Spirit School in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Holy Spirit SchoolLooking for a local summer school program for your child? Holy Spirit School in Almaden Valley provides a variety of summer school programs and summer camps.

Customize your child’s summer school program. Choose from language arts, mathematics, science, computers, art, geography, current events, and more. Select morning, afternoon, or combine the two for a unique all day experience. The four-week programs and camps are $330 for members of Holy Spirit Church, and $380 for non-members.

The program is at Holy Spirit School from June 21 to July 16, 2010. Morning options are from 9:00 to 11:30am, and afternoon options from 12:00 to 2:00pm. Students attending all day will have lunch from 11:30am to 12:00pm. Extended care is available from 7am until 6pm for an additional fee. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Mad Science 2010 Summer Camps in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Mad ScienceMad Science summer camps offer a daily combination of in-class science discovery and exploration, outdoor games, and hands-on application of the scientific principles presented. Campers create a take-home project every day of camp. The following camps are being held at Almaden Community Center:

These programs are designed to instill a clear understanding of what science is really about and how it affects our world.

Mad Science is holding after school programs at Williams Elementary School, Challenger School, and Los Alamitos Elementary School.
