Almaden Swim & Racquet Club Courses

Almaden Swim and Racquet ClubThe Almaden Swim & Racquet Club (ASRC) is hosting a series of American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard training courses between March and May 2019. The courses will be provided by Norcal Lifeguard Training under the guidance of instructor Tami Moore.

The dates are as follows:

  • Session 1: March 9 – 10
  • Session 2: April 13 – 14
  • Session 3: May 18 – 19.

The costs are $125 for a one-day recertification course and $200 for a two-day new certification course. The training is open to all participants 15 years or older.

NorCal Lifeguard Training is an authorized American Red Cross provider. This Lifeguard certification also includes First Aid, CPR and AED certification, and is valid for two years.

Almaden Little League Baseball 2019

Almaden Little League Baseball 2019Calling baseball’s little champs and enthusiasts! Almaden Little League Baseball registration is now open for the 2019 season.

The league welcomes children, both boys and girls, between the ages of 4 and 15 years, who live or attend school in 95120, 95141, or 95042. The Almaden Little League is a part of the Little League International and District 12. Prior experience of playing baseball is not required. So, if your child enjoys baseball and loves to have fun, Almaden Little League Baseball is a great place to meet new friends and learn to be part of a team.

Almaden NJB Youth Basketball League 2018-19The Almaden NJB Youth Basketball League 2018-19 season registration is now open!

Is your young basketball enthusiast interested in being a part of the NJB? Well, it’s time to enroll. All players must reside in either 95120, 95118 South of Hwy 85, 95123 West of Santa Teresa Hills, 95124 East of Camden Ave and Hicks Road – zip code areas.

Following are the important dates:

  • Registration closes on: September 20, 2018.
  • Evaluation weekend: September 22 – 23, 2018.
  • First league game: December 2, 2018.

Almaden Soccer is offering 7 weeks of soccer summer camps from June to August 2017. These camps are open for young soccer players of all abilities, born between 2003 and 2010. They will be held at O’Malley Field 2 (Steinbeck School) from 9:00 am to noon on the following dates:

June: 19-23 and 26-30
July: 10-14, 17-21, and 24-28
August: July 31 – Aug. 4 and Aug. 7-11

TennisSummer Sports Camps in Almaden - Skyhawks Sports

Skyhawks Sports in partnership with the Almaden Community Center is running summer tennis camps for kids of all abilities, ages 7 to 12. These camps will be held in July at the Leland High School tennis courts. The dates are as follows:

July 10-14, 17-21, and 24-28

The Almaden NJB Youth Basketball League (AVNJB), an affiliate of the National Junior Basketball League (NJB), will be running basketball camps in June and July. The dates are:

June 26-30
July 17-21

Almaden Valley Girls Softball League Tournament Tryouts

Almaden Valley Girls Softball LeagueThe Almaden Valley Girls Softball League (AVGSL) is holding tryouts for the Almaden Lightning Tournament on Sunday, May 7, 2017. The tryouts are for girls in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U groups. The league is planning to field five to eight summer tournament teams in 2017.

Tryouts will be held at Bret Harte Middle School at the times below:

8U Pitcher and Catcher Tryouts 8:00 – 8:30
8U Team Tryouts 8:45 – 10:45
12U Pitcher and Catcher Tryouts 11:00 – 11:30

Check out the Almaden Community Center Activity Guide for Fall 2016! The guide contains classes and programs for children of all ages from dance and music to health and fitness and specialty camps. There are also a variety of new classes including 3D Cartoon Drawing, Fundamentals of Drawing, Intro to Pastels, Preschool Artist, Little Medical School, and many more. The Almaden Community Center even offers a recreation preschool and KinderCare to prepare children for elementary school.

Make note of some important dates mentioned in the guide, such as the 9th Annual Harvest Festival happening on Saturday, October 22, from 11am to 4pm. The Harvest Festival is an opportunity for residents to enjoy local art, eat good food, and pick pumpkins out of a pumpkin patch just in time for Halloween. The guide also highlights Breakfast with Santa on December 10 from 9:30am to 12pm. Additionally, there are Free Movie Fridays in the Community Room on September 30, October 28, and November 18.

Register for Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League’s 2013 Fall Recreational Soccer

logo: Almaden Valley Youth Soccer LeagueRegistration for Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League’s 2013 Fall Recreational Program for U6-U14 (age group matrix) is open from May 6 until July 1, 2013.

Practices start the week of August 19, 2013. The first game of the season is August 24, 2013, and the last game is late October / early November 2013.

Registration for Fall Recreation is $199 per player. After June 14, 2013 an additional $25 late registration fee will be charged.

Almaden Little League 2013 Spring SeasonSign-ups for the Almaden Little League 2013 spring season will take place on December 3rd and 4th this year. Parents can sign their children up for teams at the Almaden Golf and Country Club from 6pm to 8:30pm.

This league is available only to residents in the following zip codes: 95120, 95141, and 95042. All players must provide three proofs of residence. New players must provide an original or certified copy of their birth certificate.

Indoor Soccer, Skillz, and Scrimmages in Almaden Valley

Indoor Soccer, Skillz, and Scrimmages in Almaden ValleySix spots remain in the Soccer, Skillz and Scrimmages indoor youth soccer league presented by the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department. Classes will take place from November 28 2012 to January 9 2013 on Wednesday evenings from 4:35 to 5:20pm. (There will be no class on December 26th.)

The teams are co-ed. Children must be at least seven years old, but no older than 10 to participate. Shin guards are required and participants are asked to wear tennis or indoor shoes without black soles.
