Almaden Community Center 2022 Spring Activity Guide

Almaden Community Center 2022 Spring The Almaden Community Center 2022 Spring Activity Guide is now available! Registration for community center classes, spring break camp and a wide variety of summer camps begins Feb. 26 at 10am. You can register in person at Almaden Community Center or online at www.sjregistration.com.

Spring break camp for ages 5-12 will be held at the Almaden Community Center Monday-Friday April 11-15 from 8am-6pm.

Dozens of week-long full- and half-day summer camps will take place at the Almaden Community Center or at neighboring parks starting the week of 6/6-6/10 and continuing through the week of 8/15-8/19. Camp instructors are from such groups as Mad Science of the Bay Area, Young Rembrandts, Futsal Kings, Skyhawks Sports Academy, Engineering for Kids, Dance Arts Academy and more.

Registration for Active Adults 50+ begins on Feb. 23 at 10am.

The Almaden Community Center is located at 6445 Camden Ave., San Jose, CA 95120. The center follows all state and county guidelines regarding mask requirements and daily health screenings. The Almaden Community Center Winter 2019 activities and classes are open for registration. Here are some of the exciting new offerings for the season.

Art with the Masters – Participants will learn about some of the great masters in art and study their paintings.

Painting Party with Ms. Marla – Learn to paint from scratch. All painting material including canvas, paints and brushes will be provided.

Apprentice Electrical Engineering: Electrified – Participants use Snap Circuits and other engineering design process tools to design, create and test various electronic circuits. Objects designed include a flashlight and a magnetic levitation vehicle!

Electronic Game Design: Racing Games – Participants create their own racing games complete with cars, race tracks and the full racing environment. Fun stuff for the young speedsters.

Junior Civil Engineering: Fun Foundation – In this fun class, children understand the engineering concepts behind big infrastructure projects like skyscrapers and bridges.

Junior Wedo Lego Robotics 2.0: Robots in Motion – Children learn to build robots using Lego Wedo.

Little Sports Medicine – In Little Sports Medicine, your child can learn about common sports related injuries and how real doctors do their diagnoses.

Minecraft YouTubers: Let’s Play – This is an exciting one for the diehard young Minecrafters. Participants create and upload Minecraft videos for YouTube, and in the process also learn about Internet safety.

New Year, New You – As we move towards 2019, find your inspiration through this motivational course. Goals, dreams, ideas and joy. Explore your inner zen.

Almaden Senior Program’s 2012 St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

St. Patrick's Day Celebration 2011Almaden Senior Program is holding its St. Patrick’s Day Celebration for seniors.

Lunch includes corned beef with tangy mustard sauce, spinach salad with red onions and cranberries, butter braised cabbage with curry powder, and boiled small red potatoes and dill carrots.

Also enjoy Shillelagh punch, and Irish cream chocolate mousse for dessert. Entertainment will include world famous Irish dancers.

This celebration is presented by Councilmember Nancy Pyle and Almaden Senior Program. The celebration is at the Almaden Community Center on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 12pm.

Tickets can be purchased near the sports and fitness desk inside the Almaden Community Center. Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Tickets are limited to four per person.

Almaden Senior Program Visting Steinbeck Museum & Wild Things Park

National Steinbeck MuseumAlmaden Senior Association is taking a day trip to visit the National Steinbeck Museum and Wild Things Exotic Animal Park.

The National Steinbeck Center is located in John Steinbeck’s hometown of Salinas, California. The Center offers three distinct visitor experiences in literature and history, agriculture and art, as well special events and educational programs.

Wild Things takes great pride in offering sanctuary to many animals that can no longer participate in entertainment or would otherwise not have a home or family. You can see the animals on guided tours and educational programs that are fun, safe, and rewarding to all – especially the animals.

The trip is on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 8am to 5:30pm. The price is $42 per person. Lunch is not included.
