Healthy Tails Dog Hike

Almaden Valley neighbors, leash up your dogs and join the Healthy “Tails” dog hike at Quicksilver Park on Saturday, November 5 from 9am to 11am. A guide from California K9 Solutions will be teaching participants how to enjoy outdoor activities as they and their dogs hike the 2.5 mile Wood Road Trail. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet long, and registration is required. Call (408) 355-2240 or register online at Santa Clara County Parks.

Healthy Trails Hike in Almaden Quicksilver County Park

Join a Park Docent on a moderately challenging 4.5-mile hike along the Wood Road, Castillero, and Mine Hill Trails.

View remnants of the expansive mercury mining operation as you explore nature and history. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and sunscreen. Bring water, snacks and a camera.

Meet at the Wood Road parking lot on Hicks Road. The hike is Saturday, February 18, 2012, 9am-1pm. For more information, call (408) 355-2240.

Guided History Hike Tour in Almaden Quicksilver County Park

Step back in time and experience what life was like back in the mining heyday. Ride by van up into the park, hike approximately 5 miles to various historic sites, and enjoy a brown-bag lunch in the park. Bring water, lunch, sturdy hiking shoes, and sun protection.

Meet at the Quicksilver Museum on Saturday, September 17, 2011, 9am-1:30pm. The tour costs $5. Reservations required. Call 408-323-1107.

2011 Pioneer Day in New Almaden Quicksilver County Park

New Almaden Quicksilver County Park - Pioneer DayPioneer Day offers fun for the whole family. Learn how the Pioneers lived back in the quicksilver mining heyday of the mid nineteenth century.

Festivities include entertainment, history, activities, children’s games, food, and speeches. This year’s Pioneer Day will also celebrate the opening of the new Outdoor Museum at New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum.
