Almaden Cabana Club – The Almaden Cabana Club offers three pools, swim lessons, and a Junior Lifeguard program. The club is also home to the Dolphins Swim Team. Almaden Golf & Country Club – In addition to an 18-Hole championship golf course and two tennis courts, the Almaden Golf & Country Club has a large swimming pool that accommodates the club’s swim team, The Gators. Almaden Swim and Racquet Club (ASRC) – The Almaden Swim and Racquet Club is located in the Country Club neighborhood of Almaden. In addition to six USTA championship tennis courts, the club offers three pools to choose from and swim lessons. The ASRC is also home to Quicksilver Swimming (QSS), a year-round, competitive swim team that offers high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. Crossgates Swim Club – The Crossgates Swim Club (also known as Crossgates Cabana Club) is located in the family-friendly Almaden neighborhood of Crossgates. In addition to a large pool available to members to swim or schedule a pool party, the swim club is also the proud home of the Crossgates Gators Swim Team! Montevideo Neighborhood Cabana and Club – Residents of the Montevideo neighborhood in Almaden Valley can swim at the Montevideo Cabana Club. This club is home to the Piranhas Swim Team and offers summer swim lessons. For more information, visit miahomeowners.com.

Basketball and Swim Teams Registrations Open

Basketball and swimWith the new school year in full swing and kids back into routine, it’s now time for sports registrations. Currently, registrations are underway for basketball and swim teams in Almaden.

Basketball

The Almaden NJB Youth Basketball League 2019-2020 registrations are now open. The Almaden NJB offers an exciting opportunity for both girls and boys to play in division, all-star and all-net, with teams advancing to the national tournament. Here are some dates to remember:

  • Registration: currently open
  • Mandatory player evaluations (grades 3-8): Sept 21-22
  • First games (division and all-net): November 24

Year-round Swim Teams

The two year-round swim teams in and around Almaden are the Almaden Riptides, which practices at the Shadowbrook Swim club, and the Quicksilver Swim team (QSS), which practices at both Gunderson High and the Almaden Swim and Racquet Club (ASRC). Both are currently accepting registrations. Further, while both are year-long competitive swim teams, they also offer recreational swim options. Almaden Swim & Racquet Club Courses

Almaden Swim and Racquet ClubThe Almaden Swim & Racquet Club (ASRC) is hosting a series of American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard training courses between March and May 2019. The courses will be provided by Norcal Lifeguard Training under the guidance of instructor Tami Moore.

The dates are as follows:

  • Session 1: March 9 – 10
  • Session 2: April 13 – 14
  • Session 3: May 18 – 19.

The costs are $125 for a one-day recertification course and $200 for a two-day new certification course. The training is open to all participants 15 years or older.

NorCal Lifeguard Training is an authorized American Red Cross provider. This Lifeguard certification also includes First Aid, CPR and AED certification, and is valid for two years.

With summer around the corner, there’s nothing more inviting than a dip in the pool. Here’s a roundup of all the Almaden Valley pools and cabana clubs where you and your family can cool off from the sizzling heat.

Almaden Valley Pools and Cabana Clubs, Almaden Cabana ClubAlmaden Cabana Club

The Almaden Cabana Club is located on Bret Harte Drive and serves the residents of the Almaden Park and Shadow Brook II areas of Almaden Valley. It operates from May to September and is the perfect place to relax with your family and socialize with your neighbors.

The club is home to the Dolphins swim team. The Almaden Cabana Club also offers summer swim lessons for kids of both member and non-member families. For more information, visit http://www.almadencabana.com.

Shadow Brook Swim ClubAlmaden Valley Pools and Cabana Clubs, Shadow Brook Swim Club

The Shadow Brook Swim Club is a neighborhood cabana club for residents of the Shadow Brook neighborhood of Almaden Valley. Located at the corner of Almaden Expressway and Shadow Brook Drive, this club is home to the Shadow Brook Sharks swim team.

The Almaden Swim and Racquet Club is a popular sports and recreation club in Almaden Valley. Serving about 300 members, it is located on Northridge Drive in the prestigious Country Club neighborhood of Almaden. The facility offers a swimming pool, a kids wading pool, and a hot tub, in addition to six USTA championship tennis courts. ASRC membership is open to all, though there is a wait list. Summer 2011 Swim Lessons at Almaden Swim & Racquet Club – UPDATED 2022

Lessons are available for members and non-members. Lessons are designed to make your child water safe and swim team ready. Lessons are available for swimmers ages 4 and older.

The instructor’s goal is to find your child’s strengths in swimming and work with them to enhance it. Determine your child’s level based on their ability.

Groups lessons start June 6, 2011 and are held Monday through Thursday for two weeks, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Lessons are 30 minutes. The group lesson price is $95 for members and $155 for non-members. You can register online. [THIS EVENT IS CLOSED]

Private lessons are available by appointment only starting May 1, 2011 (weekends only) and June 6, 2011 (7 days a week). Private lessons are $25 per half hour for members and $35 for non-members. You can add additional students for $10 (member) $15 (non-member) per half hour. Students must be of the same relative age and ability.
