Almaden Community Center 2024 Fall Activity GuideThe Almaden Community Center 2024 Fall Activity Guide is now available! See what classes are being offered in Arts & Crafts, Dance, Education & Enrichment, and Sports. There are so many great options to pick from, for preschoolers through Active Adults 50+. Most activities start in September, so register now!

In addition to fall classes, the Almaden Community Center 2024 Fall Activity Guide has registration information for 2024-2025 school year programs including San Jose Recreation Preschool and R.O.C.K. Afterschool. You can also register for Fall, Thanksgiving, and January Break Camps, as well as for Citywide Fitness programs for ages 14-55+, which include drop-in volleyball, basketball, and table tennis. The guide also includes information about the Harvest Festival, Halloween Party, North Pole Party, and Breakfast with Santa!

4th of July 2024 Fireworks Festival at Almaden Lake Park

4th of July 2024Get ready for family fun at the 9th Annual 4th of July 2024 Fireworks Festival at Almaden Lake Park!

DATE: July 4th, 2024
TIME: Festival starts at 3:00 PM – Fireworks will begin approximately 9:15 PM
LOCATION: Almaden Lake Park

In addition to fabulous fireworks by Blackstar Fireworks, there will be a Fun Zone, a Food Court, and entertainment by The Snarky Cats band! There will also be a half-time show including Comedy Sportz, Patriotic Outfit Awards, National Anthem, and more.

This community event depends on volunteers to make it a success. The Almaden Valley Women’s Club is working with Councilmember Arjun Batra and District 10 to manage this year’s 4th of July Fireworks Festival. Swim in Almaden ValleyLooking for places to swim in Almaden Valley? Here’s a list of Almaden Valley pools and cabana clubs where you can swim for pleasure, take swim lessons, or train and compete on a swim team.

Almaden Cabana Club – The Almaden Cabana Club offers three pools, swim lessons, and a Junior Lifeguard program. The club is also home to the Dolphins Swim Team. Located at Bret Harte Drive, Associate/Annual membership requires primary home address to be within the 95120 zip code. For more information, visit http://www.almadencabana.com.

Almaden Golf & Country Club – In addition to an 18-Hole championship golf course and two tennis courts, the Almaden Golf & Country Club has a large swimming pool that accommodates the club’s swim team, The Gators. Almaden Swim and Racquet Club (ASRC) – The Almaden Swim and Racquet Club is located in the Country Club neighborhood of Almaden. In addition to six USTA championship tennis courts, the club offers three pools to choose from and swim lessons. The ASRC is also home to Quicksilver Swimming (QSS), a year-round, competitive swim team that offers high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. Crossgates Swim Club – The Crossgates Swim Club (also known as Crossgates Cabana Club) is located in the family-friendly Almaden neighborhood of Crossgates. In addition to a large pool available to members to swim or schedule a pool party, the swim club is also the proud home of the Crossgates Gators Swim Team! Montevideo Neighborhood Cabana and Club – Residents of the Montevideo neighborhood in Almaden Valley can swim at the Montevideo Cabana Club. This club is home to the Piranhas Swim Team and offers summer swim lessons. For more information, visit miahomeowners.com.

Oaktree Park Cabana Club ­– The Oaktree Park Cabana Club has a six-lane lap pool and proudly hosts the Oaktree Sharks Swim Team, champions of the Valley Cabana Swim League. For more information about swim opportunities at the club, visit www.oaktreeparkcabanaclub.com.

Water Lantern Festival at Almaden Lake Park 2024

Water Lantern Festival at Almaden Lake Park 2024 - Images of lanterns on the lake

Tickets are on sale now for the Water Lantern Festival at Almaden Lake Park June 21-23, 2024. Along with entry to the festival, each adult and youth ticket comes with a floating lantern kit, commemorative drawstring bag, and more.

Gates open at 5:30, when you and your family can enjoy food trucks, music and fun! At 8:00 you’ll design your lantern, and then from 8:30 – 10:00 is the Lantern Launch, where you’ll witness the beauty of thousands of lanterns and their lights reflecting upon the water.

The price covers the cost of collecting and removing the lanterns from the water following the event as well as cleaning up any trash that may have been previously been in or around the water.

In addition, Water Lantern Festival supports the mission of Water.org in helping to provide safe water and sanitation to families around the world.

Registered participants will get to go trick-or-treating along the West Side park trail and visit different stations to take part in activities such as arts & crafts, games, face painting, and a photo area to show off your costume. Activities will be open for registered participants ages 3 to 12 only. Register Now and be entered in a drawing for a Halloween prize! Event is on first come first serve. After sunset, families will be able to enjoy a family friendly movie night featuring “Hocus Pocus.” No registration is required for movie night.

Pioneer Day 2023It’s time for Pioneer Day 2023 presented by the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association! Come learn about New Almaden Quicksilver mining history, including hearing from descendants of miners who lived and worked in New Almaden. Tour the mining museum and grounds of the historic Casa Grande (former home of the mine superintendents). Enjoy live music, lunch, and a tour of historic Hacienda cemetery.

In addition to fabulous fireworks by Devastating Pyrotechnics, there will be a Fun Zone, a Food Court, and an Entertainment Lineup including music by The Snarky Cats, a magic show by PY Magic, and a Costume Contest!

This community event depends on volunteers to make it a success. Everyone interested in volunteering must register at least 3 weeks before the event, sign a volunteer service agreement, and go through a brief overview/training. Volunteer sign-ups will not be accepted on July 4th.
