Almaden Quicksilver Park will be hosting a history tour by van on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 9am to 1:30pm. Adults and children (6 years and older, must weigh at least 60 pounds) alike will love the opportunity to step back in time and discover the area’s rich mining history on this tour.
Join Almaden Valley Athletic Club’s General Manager and professionally trained Wilderness Guide, Jeff Griffith-Jones, and AVAC’s Activities Director, Becky Smothermon, on a walk through the past in Quicksilver Park in beautiful New Almaden.

Join Docent Sam Drake on a beginner’s geocaching adventure in Almaden Quicksilver County Park. You will find 6-7 hidden caches in the park.
Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game where you use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” with other participants in the activity. GPS units provided.
A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it.
Meet at the Wood Road Park Entrance with sturdy hiking shoes, sun protection, water, and snacks. The event is Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 8:45am to 12:00pm. You can register online. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Learn about urban forests and how to take care of the trees in our community. This workshop features a fun presentation for kids ages 6-12, as well as information for adults about how to get a tree for a small donation.
This workshop is presented in partnership with Our City Forest. The mission of Our City Forest is to cultivate a green and healthy San José metropolis by engaging community members in the appreciation, protection, growth and maintenance of our urban ecosystem, especially our urban forest.
The workshop is at Almaden Branch Library on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 3:30-4:30pm.
