Almaden Community Center Senior Association Thanksgiving feast, Nov. 16, 2016

The Almaden Community Center Senior Association is sponsoring a Thanksgiving feast on Wednesday, Nov. 16 between 2pm and 4pm at the Almaden Community Club. Come join in with family and friends for a sumptuous meal of traditional turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green beans, bread and dessert. Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for non-members, available at the Almaden Community Center. For more information, call 408-268-1133.

Almaden Country School Thanksgiving feast, Nov. 22, 2016

The Almaden Country School’s annual Thanksgiving feast is a tradition of long standing. On Monday Nov. 21, parents and children will gather in school to prep and cook up a dish to serve at the feast the next day, Nov. 22. No prior cooking experience required. Turkey Trot, Nov. 23, 2016

Castillero Middle School is doing its bit to give back to the community and the school during Thanksgiving. Castillero’s PE department is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Turkey Trot on Wednesday Nov. 23. During the Turkey Trot, students will have a choice of trotting through two events – a competitive mile lap and a non-competitive track lap. Spirit t-shirts will be sold for $10 each and all funds will go towards the Castillero Middle School PE department. Those who sign up will also donate one item of canned food for the Second Harvest Food Bank Thanksgiving donation. For more information, visit http://sjusd.org/castillero.

Run Turkey Run 5K / 10K, Nov. 24, 2016

On Thanksgiving morning, hundreds of Almaden families will gather at Leland High School to participate in the Run Turkey Run 5K / 10K. This annual Thanksgiving event is organized by the Bret Harte Booster Club.

The run/walk event begins at Leland High School at 8.30 am. Both the 5K and 10K sprints will be done on level terrain on the paved trails along the Los Alamitos Creek trail, and will end in a loop at Leland High.

Registration is $15 for kids 12 and under and $20 for adults. You can also purchase Run Turkey Run spirit t-shirts for $15 at the time of packet pick-up and on race morning. Summer 2011 Camp Galileo at Almaden Country School in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

logo: Camp GalileoAt Camp Galileo in Almaden Valley campers engage in hands-on art, science, and outdoor activities every day. They also have tons of fun with camp traditions like dress up days, water day, and the rubber chicken cheer.

Camp Galileo offers four unique weeks, each with their own engaging curriculum theme. You can sign-up for one or multiple weeks.

Each week of camp is built around an intriguing storyline and art and science theme. As the week progresses, activities become more sophisticated and build toward a culminating project.

The 2011 themes include the following:

  • Lost in the Forbidden City: Chinese Art & Building Design
  • Inventor’s Workshop: The Art & Science of Toy Design
  • Detective in Paris: Impressionism & The Science of Sleuthing
  • We Built This City: Urban Art & Environmental Engineering

Camp Galileo is for kids Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Campers are grouped by grade level into teams that stay together throughout the week.

As campers advance through the three age groups, they delve deeper into science and art concepts, use more advanced materials, and work on more complex team-building challenges.

Camp Galileo is at Almaden Country School from June 20, 2011 through August 5, 2011. Camp is Monday through Friday from 9:00am–3:00pm. Full day and part day programs are offered. Extended care is also available from 8:00am–9:00am and 3:00pm-5:30pm. See the detailed schedule. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

The price varies depending on the number of weeks your child attends and whether you choose the full day or part day program.

Camp Galileo at Almaden Country School – UPDATED 2022

Camp GalileoCamp Galileo is a summer day camp that inspires kids to imagine new ideas, collaborate with peers, and express themselves creatively. Kids enjoy art, science, and outdoor programming every day, all wrapped in fun camp traditions and delivered by highly enthusiastic staff. Camp Galileo is for pre-kinders through 5th graders.

As the week progresses, activities become more sophisticated and culminate toward a project. The hands-on curriculum is developed in partnership with The Tech Museum of Innovation, de Young Museum, and Klutz. Themes for 2010 include the following:

  • Adventures in Flight & Egyptian Art
  • Amusement Park Engineers & Medieval Art
  • Mission to the Moon & Psychedelic ’60s
  • Ocean Expeditions

The camp is being held at Almaden Country School, June 21 through August 6, 2010. Camp is Monday through Friday, 9am to 1pm or 9am to 3pm. Extended care is offered from 8–9am and 3–5:30pm. [EVENT IS CLOSED]
