Almaden Community Center and Almaden LibraryExciting updates from the Almaden Community Center and Almaden Library!

The Almaden Branch Library is now open for all in-person activities after the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Check out the new hours here.

While the Almaden Community Center is still awaiting opening for indoor in-person activities, there are a lot of sports camps and outdoor activities that you can register for. Some of the activities that are still open for July registration are:

Camp Dance:
July 19 to July 23. For kids aged 3 to 12 years. At the Almaden Community Center, Tiny Town Courtyard. This is an outdoor activity, masks are required.

Camp San Jose Strong at Vista Park: Full Day
July 6 to July 9, July 12 to July 16, July 19 to July 23. For kids aged 5 to 12 years. This is a full day camp from 8 am to 6 pm at Vista Park.

Camp San Jose Strong at Almaden: Half Day
July 6 to July 9, July 12 to July 16, July 19 to July 23, August 2 to August 6. For kids aged 3 to 5 years. This is a half day camp at the Almaden Community Center.

Beach Volleyball at Almaden Lake Park:
July 14 to August 4. For kids aged 8 to 12 years. Wednesdays from 3:45 to 4:30 pm.
July 26 to July 30. For kids aged 10 to 14 years. 9 am to 12 pm.
These are outdoor activities, masks are required.

Exciting Almaden Valley youth opportunities this month at the Almaden Library and Leland High!

Almaden Valley youth opportunitiesBrain Maps – A Stimulating Workshop for Kids

Almaden children, ages 7 and up, will learn all about brain-mapping in this creative and engaging workshop at the Almaden Library on Tuesday January 31 at 4:00pm. This play and learn event will start off with some fun quizzes about the brain, and then kids will learn about personality and the different lobes of the brain. Thereafter, they will create their own brain maps by drawing on beach balls! For more details, visit: [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Build a Bot at Leland High

The annual Build a Lego Robot Day at Leland High is coming up on Saturday January 28. Conducted by the school’s FRC (FIRST Robotics competition) Team 604, also known as Quixilver, this workshop introduces students ages 6-14 to the basics of programming and designing robots. The workshop will be held in two sessions from 10-11am and 11:30am-12:30pm.

Earlier this academic year, the Leland Robotics team won the Chezy Champs Robotics competition at Bellarmine College Preparatory in an alliance with Spartan Robotics, Citrus Circuits and Presentation Invasion. Almaden Library to Host Performance by José Luis Orozco

Jose-Luis-OrozcoJosé Luis Orozco, popular bilingual musician, is performing at the Almaden Library! Mr. José Luis Orozco is an award winning children’s book author and bilingual educator. He wrote De Colores, Diez Deditos and Fiestas. More recently, he wrote Rin Rin Rin Do Re Mi. CD’s accompany each of these colorful books to present a collection of latino songs, rhymes, lullabies, and holiday celebrations.

The Fratello Marionettes Performing in Almaden Valley

The Almaden Branch Public Library will present a puppet production of Aladdin on December 29, 2012 at 2:30pm. The Fratello Marionettes will tell this magical tale from “The 1001 Arabian Nights” as it has never been seen before.

Witness Aladdin’s adventures as he discovers a magical lamp with a genie inside, defeats an evil sorcerer and wins the heart of a princess.

South Bay Guitar Duo Playing at Almaden Community Center

South Bay Guitar DuoAlmaden Branch Public Library will present a holiday concert by the acclaimed South Bay Guitar Duo on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2pm.

Several selections and a special sing-a-long will be performed by Ben Zussman and Jerry Snyder. Reservations are not required. Come and enjoy this free holiday event!

Almaden Branch Library’s Holiday Themed Book Sale – UPDATED 2022

Almaden Branch Library Book SaleAlmaden Branch Library will host its annual holiday book sale on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 9am to noon. Please note that the library will be closed on this day, but the sale will be held in the community center at 6445 Camden Ave in the hallway leading to the library’s entrance.

Meet Thriller Author Hannah Jayne at the Almaden Library

Hannah Jayne Schwartz Visits Almaden ValleyAlmaden Branch Library will be hosting a “Meet the Author” event in the program room on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 4pm.

Thriller author Hannah Jayne will lead a workshop for community members interested in learning more about the life of an author. Jayne’s trilogy of novels is known as the “Underworld Detection Agency Chronicles,” and individual titles include Under Wraps, Under Attack, and Under Suspicion.

Almaden Valley to Host San Jose’s Citywide 2012 Teen Talent Show Finale – UPDATED 2022

logo: Teen Talent ShowWatch teens ages 12-18 perform in the 2012 Teen Talent Show finale. Performances may include singing, dancing, comedy, magic, or other special talent.

All performers are the first and second place winners of the six local branch competitions. Each individual or group contestant will perform for up to 5 minutes.
