Spring is well under way, and with just a few short weeks left of the school year, are you wondering how to keep your kids engaged during the summer? From fairy-tale themed dances for the tiny tots to the more energetic hip-hop and cheerleading style moves for the older kids, the dance camps will have them moving and grooving in no time. Look up:

Registration is now open for Almaden Community Center summer camps!

The Spring 2018 activity guide details a huge variety of summer camps offered from June through August, designed to keep teens and kids of all ages creatively engaged this summer.

The camps are broadly categorized into the following groups: Music and Dance, Art and Craft, Sports, Science, Engineering and Robotics. Many of them have full-day and half-day options. Here’s a sample of what’s in the guide…

Almaden Swim & Racquet Club Junior Tennis Summer Camp with Cool Off Swimming

logo: Almaden Swim & Racquet ClubAlmaden Swim & Racquet Club has a number of Junior Tennis Camps this Summer for kids ages 7-12.

Campers will learn the basics in a fun and low-key atmosphere. What is really special about this summer camp is the optional extra hour of recreational swimming (supervised) to cool off after the tennis activities!

Nintendo’s Mario Characters

Video Game Design campers will learn how to design the concept and elements of basic, two-dimensional computer / video games. The instructor will help guide the software development, with design input and guidance from the students. Students will work in small groups to collaborate on at least one finished game. The camp is for kids ages 7-11.

Holy Spirit Church invites your children to SonRise National Park Vacation Bible School. The campers will participate in Bible adventures, crafts, recreation, songs, and enjoy tasty snacks. The camps is for kids ages Pre-K (4 years old as of 10/1/12) through kids entering 5th grade.

Registration is now open for the 11th Annual / 2012 Math Enrichment Summer Program at Leland High School in Almaden Valley.

Math Enrichment is an independent Summer program for students going into Kindergarten through 11th Grade. It offers a challenging educational environment to all students, while creating an atmosphere that inspires a lifelong love of learning and helps each student to reach his or her fullest potential.

Junior Tennis Classes and Summer Camp at Almaden Country Club

Tennis BallsSign your child up for Junior Tennis Classes or Junior Tennis Summer Camp. These programs are directed by USPTA / USPTR Tennis Pros, Nancy Ghantous and Coach Reggie. The programs emphasize tennis fundamentals and skills in a fun and positive learning environment.

Tennis classes and Summer camp are available for ten weeks, from June 7, 2010 through August 13, 2010. You can sign up for one week or as many weeks as you wish.

Emphasis on stroke development, tactics, and match play. For intermediate players.
Price: $20 / 1.5 hr.

Ages 8 and up
Daily M-F, 4:00-5:00pm
Emphasis on stroke refinement, singles and doubles strategy, and tactics in match play situation.
Price: $15 / 1 hr.

Ages 12 and up
Friday only, 5:00-6:30pm
Singles and doubles strategy and tactics, match play, and overall development as a tournament player. For advanced players.
Price: $20 / 1.5 hr.

Tennis Camp

Price: $40 / 2 hrs.

Almaden Jr. Chef’s Summer Camp – Summer 2010

[photo: boy jr. chef] Sign your child up for Almaden Jr. Chef’s Summer Camp. Campers will learn basic cooking techniques, fun how to’s, healthy eating tips, and design their own herb garden and reusable shopping bag.

The camp also features multicultural food demonstrations and supervised play time. Sign your child up for one or two weeks. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-10. The camper to staff ratio is 1:12. The price is $295 per camper for one week.

Almaden Jr. Chef’s Summer Camp is at the Almaden Community Center. You have two one-week sessions to choose from: July 12, 2010 – July 16, 2010, and/or August 2, 2010 – August 6, 2010. Camp is held 8:30am – 12:30pm daily. You can sign up online.

TechKnowHow LEGO® Summer Camps at Holy Spirit School in Almaden Valley

[photo: techknowhow lego summer camp craft] Does your child enjoy building with LEGO® toys? Sign your little one up for TechKnowHow LEGO® Summer Camp.

There are three different one-week camps to choose from: Spybots (ages 6-9), Pro Builders (ages 7-9), and Rev-Up (ages 6-9). Each class will involve five building projects, one each day of the week. Students take home a CD with building instructions and a camp t-shirt. Read the class descriptions.

Classes are at Holy Spirit School in Almaden Valley on June 21-25, 2010; June 28-July 2, 2010; and July 6-9, 2010. These are special half-day classes from 2-5pm daily. (No extended care available.) Price is $200 per camper for the week.

Art Classes for Children at Cindy Art Studio – Summer 2010

{Photo: Cindy Art Studio}In addition to its regular weekly art classes, Cindy Art Studio is offering special week-long Summer Art Classes for children ages 4 and older.

You can choose from a variety of art mediums that interest your child, including: pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, polymer clay, rock painting, sand art, scratching art, and wood burning.

Summer Art Classes are at Cindy Art Studio, near the corner of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill. There are nine week-long Summer classes to choose from. The classes begin June 15, 2010 and end August 13, 2010. Class is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 – 5:00pm or 5:00 – 6:30pm.

Price is $100 per student per week, including all art supplies. Enroll now!
