New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association is holding its annual Wildflower Scavenger Hunt.

Join Docent Kitty Monahan and Friends of New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association as they take you on a wildflower scavenger hunt in beautiful Quicksilver Park.

This outdoor hunt for flowery delights will take you through various stations at Jacque Ridge along Wood Road Trail in Almaden Quicksilver Park.

The meeting location is at the Wood Road Trail parking lot. The event is Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 10am to 12pm.

Movement, Poetry & Art Camp is a cutting edge, well-rounded art camp for your budding artist.

Your child will enjoy literature with music, poetry with movement, and explore the history and influence of local artists in our everyday lives. The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-14.

Movement, Poetry & Art Camp is at the Almaden Community Center, Monday – Friday, April 11, 2011 through Friday, April 15, 2011 from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The price is $245 per child.

photo: Camp B-L-D Kids will take a trip around the Almaden Teaching Kitchen and learn how to make meals and snacks for each part of the day.

Camp B-L-D (breakfast, lunch, dinner) fosters self-confidence, allows kids to make new friends, and enjoy tasty meals all camp long.

Cooking supplies will be provided. Children are encouraged to bring an apron and drink to camp each day. The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-10.

Camp B-L-D is at the Almaden Community Center, Monday – Friday, April 11, 2011 through April 15, 2011, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The price is $209 per child.

Almaden Cares Meeting to Discuss Smart Driving for Teens – UPDATED 2022

image: almaden cares Almaden Cares meetings are open to all who want to help save the lives of kids on the streets and roads in Almaden Valley.

At the meetings the group provides an update on the most recent accomplishments, discusses plans, and talks about how it can increase community involvement. The meetings are open to all adults and students.

Almaden Cares is a small group of community members who have joined together in response to the many tragic and horrific car collisions involving teenage drivers in Almaden Valley.

The goal of Almaden Cares is to raise the consciousness of pre-teens, teens, and parents regarding the causes of catastrophic accidents involving teen drivers.

The organization wants everyone who gets behind the wheel of a car and everyone who rides as a passenger to make good decisions about their own safety as well as the safety of those around them.

Almaden Cares invites you to join them in this community effort. The next meeting is at the Offices of Alain Pinel, 1071 Blossom Hill Road, San Jose, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, from 7-8pm. Along with a special guest speaker, the group will discuss recent progress with community partners, its new website, and related issues. logo: Mad Science Summer Camps Mad Science is holding several summer camps in Almaden Valley. All Mad Science camps are for children ages 5 to 12.

Mad Science camps help spark the imagination and curiosity of children by providing them with fun, entertaining, and educational activities.

The camps instill a clearer understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around them.

The following Mad Science summer camps are available at the Almaden Community Center. All camps have half day (9am to 12pm) and full day (9am to 3pm) options, with the exception of the NASA camp, which is half day only.

Internet Safety Seminar for Parents in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Common Sense Media is providing an Internet Safety Seminar in Almaden Valley. This seminar will address issues such as cyberbullying, texting, and social networking. The event is for parents only.

The Internet is social for preteens and teens. Kids at this age still need parental guidance on how to conduct themselves online. You will learn how to help your child become responsible digital citizens, which will ultimately keep them safe online.

Common Sense Media is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that provides trustworthy information and tools, as well as an independent forum, so that families have a choice and a voice about the media they consume.
