Pumpkin Picking at the Park is a fun-filled day with activities for pre-schools and their parents to enjoy together. The morning starts with art activities at Almaden Community Center, followed by a guided tour of Emma Prusch Park.
At Emma Prusch Park you and your child will go on a wagon hay ride, get a close up look at different farm animals, and pick a pumpkin to take home with you. You are also welcome to bring lunch and have a picnic in the park.
The event is Wednesday, October 27, 2010, from 9am to 12:30pm. The price is $20 per child. Pre-registration is required. You can register online. Emma Prusch Park is located at 647 South Kind Road, San Jose, CA 95116.
2010 Pioneer Day & Casa Grande Re-Opening in New Almaden – UPDATED 2022
Bring the whole family for a day of fun at Pioneer Day in New Almaden. Enjoy food, games, history, and speeches from officials.
The event will also celebrate the grand re-opening of the newly renovated Casa Granda, an historical landmark built in 1854, and now home to the New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum. The event is free. Lunch and gifts will be available for purchase.
Pioneer Day will be at the Casa Grande in New Almaden on Saturday, November 13, 2010, from 11am to 3pm. The event is being held by the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Lifeways of the Ohlone Indians – UPDATED 2022
The Guadalupe River Park Conservancy offers a wide variety of fascinating educational opportunities. On Wednesday, September 29th Santa Cruz District Archaeologist Mark Hylkema will be presenting a learning experience on the Lifeways of the Ohlone Indians, one of the tribes that inhabited our area. Almaden Community Center 2010 Halloween Party – UPDATED 2022
A safe and fun Halloween party in Almaden Valley for kids ages 4-7. Children should go in costume. They will enjoy food, games, crafts, and stories.
The party is at the Almaden Community Center on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 5pm to 7pm. The price is $21 per child for San Jose residents, and $25 for non-residents. You can register your child online. [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Pioneer High School 2010 / 2011 E-Waste Collection Events – UPDATED 2022
Pioneer High School Education Foundation is now holding its e-waste collection events on the first Saturday of each month throughout the 2010/2011 academic year. All proceeds benefit Pioneer High School’s academic and technology programs.
Discard your old computers, TVs, monitors, printers, cell phones, entertainment equipment, tools, small appliances, and any other electronic and battery-powered devices. Just drive up and volunteers will unload for you.
Businesses with large quantities of e-waste can have them picked up by contacting 1st Choice Recycling at support@1stchoicerecycling.com or 877-715-5515.

Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival – UPDATED 2022
Well, today is the day for the annual Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival at Almaden Lake Park. If you have never been, you really need to go. Local artists. Great food. Entertainment for adults and kids. Something for everybody. The festival is hosted each year by the Almaden Valley Women’s Club.
Play Flag Football League in Almaden Valley – Fall 2010 Season – UPDATED 2022
Play Flag Football league offers 5-on-5 non-contact flag football designed for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 15. Each team has eight to ten children.
The season consists of two practice weeks, one pre-season game, ten regular-season games, and an end of season playoff jamboree where teams play at least two additional games. All league play takes place on Sundays, and games last 45 minutes.
The price is $125 per player. Each player receives a team jersey, shorts, flags, mouthpiece, and league t-shirt. All players receive a participation trophy from the league at the end of the season.
Practice and games are held at Castillero Middle School in Almaden Valley. The Fall 2010 season begins October 10, 2010 and ends December 12, 2010. Register online by September 30, 2010. [EVENT IS CLOSED]
2010 Los Alamitos Silent Auction in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022
Support the 2010 Los Alamitos Silent Auction. All proceeds benefit Los Alamitos Elementary School‘s award winning music, art, and science programs. Approximately $154,000 is needed for classroom supplies, programs, and events.
Bid on a number of fantastic items, including sporting events, concert tickets, restaurant gift certificates, hotel stays, vacation rentals, rounds of golf, and home décor. Also bid on premium items such as a guitar autographed by the members of U2, and a record album autographed by Michael Jackson. You can also support Los Alamitos by making a donation or by volunteering for the auction.

Below is graph of Almaden Valley market for August 2010 as well as the prior 14 months. As you can see, there is not much change in activity since July However, Actives are up from a year ago at this time and Pending Sales are down.
