Diwali Celebration 2025

Diwali celebration 2025On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the Indian Community Members of the Almaden Senior Association will host a Diwali Celebration from 12pm to 3pm at the Almaden Community Center.

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is one of India’s most important and colorful celebrations. Festivities will feature beautiful decorations, a flavorful multi-course Indian dinner, high-energy Indian dances and a drawing for door prizes.

$25 for ACC members
$28 for non-members

Senior Walk 2025 at Almaden Lake Park

Come join the South San Jose Senior Walk 2025 at Almaden Lake Park! It’s spooky season, so walk in your best Halloween costume to win prizes!

When: Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, 9-11am

Where: Almaden Lake Park, Arroyo Picnic Area

This event promotes long, healthy, active lifestyles with a walking course, a contest for prizes, and a resource fair! Free and open to all, no RSVP required. Limited water and snacks provided. Free parking in Winfield lot.

Every month the museum offers a new and exciting crafternoon from 12pm-4pm. Learn about local wildlife, history, and more while making a craft to take home. Free drop-in event, great for all ages.

The next crafternoons will take place this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 & 31, 2025.

Concession food will be sold cash only. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect, relax, and enjoy a summer night with your community!

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

Join a special guest from the San José Police Department (SJPD) at the Almaden Branch Library to share stories and the joys of reading to children as part of the library’s Read to Succeed early education program. Almaden Library is excited to partner with the SJPD to bring this special program to the Almaden neighborhood.

Read to Succeed is a partnership between the San José Public Library and the SJPD to promote early literacy, as well as build positive and inspiring interactions between police officers, children and their caregivers through structured programming at San Jose Public Library locations.

2025 Water Lantern Festival at Almaden Lake Park

2025 Water Lantern Festival - Image of lanterns on lakeThere’s still time to get Early Bird ticket prices for the 2025 Water Lantern Festival at Almaden Lake Park July 18-20, 2025. This is a very popular event, so get your tickets now! Along with entry to the festival, each adult and youth ticket comes with a floating lantern kit, commemorative drawstring bag, and more.

Gates open at 5:30, when you and your family can enjoy food trucks, music and fun! At 8:00 you’ll design your lantern, and then from 8:30 – 10:00 is the Lantern Launch, where you’ll witness the beauty of thousands of lanterns and their lights reflecting upon the water.

Water Lantern Festival is committed to sustainability. The price covers the cost of collecting and removing the lanterns from the water following the event as well as cleaning up any trash that may have previously been in or around the water. The lanterns are made from rice paper and wood, so they are as eco-friendly as possible, and they reuse and recycle the LED candles.

Additionally, Water Lantern Festival is partnered with Water.org, an organization dedicated to providing safe water to millions of people around the world.

This Older Americans Barbeque will include hot dogs, chips, lemonade, and ice cream, as well as lawn games, entertainment by Blue Sky Musical Group, and more!
