Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra Performing in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

logo: Firebird Youth Chinese OrchestraBring in the New Year and celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with a live musical performance by Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra (FYOC).

In the past few years, FYCO’s concerts and performances have received exceptional praise from audiences, including arts organization observers. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) declared FYCO as “one of the very few ensembles in the United States dedicated to educating young people, their families and communities through traditional Chinese music, and is carrying out its mission with great success.”

FYCO was founded in 2000 by Gordon Lee along with thirteen musicians. FYCO currently has about one hundred musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments. Most of the students are American born Chinese youths ranging from nine to seventeen years of age.

The mission of FYOC is to train young musicians and promote Chinese music as an integral part of Chinese-American culture, thereby strengthening the Chinese community and enhancing the cultural diversity and richness of American Society.

The performance is at the Almaden Community Center on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 2:00 to 3:00pm. No pre-registration required. Just go and enjoy! [EVENT IS CLOSED]

Papa Hugs Musical Performance Coming to Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Papa Hugs, a.k.a. David Sharpe, will be accompanied by his Playtime Characters, including Wonder The Kangaroo, Scary Bug, Robbie the Robot, Fitness the Frog, and Stinky Beetle.

Papa Hugs’ music is educational, interactive, upbeat, silly, and fun. It teaches children about relationships, health, our environment, and the world around us. Papa Hugs songs are straight from the heart and welcome you with open arms.

Join the San Jose Astronomical Association for Stories Under the Stars and Star Party.

From the stargazing station telescopes, see Jupiter, Ring Nebula, Great Global Cluster in Hercules, Coathanger, Albireo, and other show objects of the autumn sky.

Almaden Community Center 2010 Halloween Party – UPDATED 2022

Old School Etiquette for Boys in Almaden Valley – UPDATED 2022

Good manners never go out of style! Raise a perfect gentlemen with Old School Etiquette for Boys. This class will help your son with his manners, appearance, and confidence at social gatherings.

Topics include good posture, public speaking, being a good sport, and table manners. The class ends with a dinner to practice all of the skills the boys have learned. This class is also a great refresher for returning students. The class is for boys ages 7-12.

The class meets six times at the Almaden Community Center on Wednesdays, April 28 – June 2, 2010, 3:45pm to 4:45pm. The price is $79 per boy. You can register your son online. [EVENT IS CLOSED]
