Looking for free family friendly crafts to do in the Almaden Valley? Look no further than Almaden Quicksilver County Park’s Mining Museum at Casa Grande.
Every month the museum offers a new and exciting crafternoon from 12pm-4pm. Learn about local wildlife, history, and more while making a craft to take home. Free drop-in event, great for all ages.
The next crafternoons will take place this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 & 31, 2025.

Celebrate the Year of the Snake at Casa Grande and learn about the historic influences China had on New Almaden’s quicksilver mines by doing crafts, viewing demonstrations, & listening to historians. While enjoying festivities you’ll also discover the significance of New Almaden’s mercury mining to the California Gold Rush.
Learn about the history of the fascinating Almaden Air Force Station Atop Mount Umunhum. See actual key artifacts from the site, and enjoy a slide show of amazing historic photos of the radar station when it was in operation during the Cold War between 1958 and 1980.



Visit Casa Grande, once the magnificent home of New Almaden Mine managers. Costumed Docents will be on hand to guide you through Victorian period rooms and museum exhibits. Children will be able to participate in a craft activity to take home.
Join your friends and neighbors for the 1st Annual / 2011 Grande-Licious Family Festival in New Almaden. Grande-Licious offers entertainment and fun for the whole family.
