The staff of the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department invite the residents of Almaden to celebrate the season with their children at the North Pole party on December 14, 2012 from 4:30 to 6:30pm.
The event will include snacks, singing, and arts & crafts activities. There will even be a visit and a gift from a very special someone who goes by the name of Santa Clause.
Six spots remain in the Soccer, Skillz and Scrimmages indoor youth soccer league presented by the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department. Classes will take place from November 28 2012 to January 9 2013 on Wednesday evenings from 4:35 to 5:20pm. (There will be no class on December 26th.)
The teams are co-ed. Children must be at least seven years old, but no older than 10 to participate. Shin guards are required and participants are asked to wear tennis or indoor shoes without black soles.
Cindy Art Studio is now be offering weekly art classes for preschoolers. Children ages 3 to 5 explore a variety of different techniques and mediums, including drawing, watercolor painting, 3-D sculpture, card-making and clay-working.
Students learn basic art elements and composition and how to follow directions. They are also encouraged to develop observational and problem-solving skills, self-expression and creative thinking, motor skills, concentration and coordination.

The seasonal slowdown in inventory that the Almaden Valley real estate market has been experiencing these last few weeks is pretty much continuing on schedule. The number of available single family homes increased from 47 last week to 48 this week, while the percentage of listings in escrow dropped from 52% to 51% over the same time frame.

Enjoy the scenery of Almaden Quicksilver Park on a run on January 5, 2013. Races will start at 8:30 and 8:45am. The courses will be hilly and will wind through the park. Detailed maps can be found at Troy’s California Trail Runs.
The following options will be available to runners (listed with their respective registration prices): 5K is $45, 10K is $50, and 13.1 miles is $55.

The New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum will be presenting a special event on Saturday, November 17th from 11am to 3pm. “Living History Day” will take place at the Casa Grande in New Almaden.
This spectacular home was once occupied by the managers of the New Almaden mine and its Victorian heritage has been maintained by the staff.
This year the Almaden Super Lions will host a Blanket Drive to collect new and gently used clean blankets for the less fortunate in the South San Jose community.
In the last three years, the organization has collected more than 2,500 blankets for Sacred Heart. The drive will take place on November 11, 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Blankets can be dropped off at the locations listed below.
Casa Grande at the New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum will be offering a Yuletide Bazaar on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10am to 4pm. Local artists and artisans will be selling their crafts and goodies – it’s a great place to pick up some unique holiday gifts for family and friends.
