Enjoy the scenery of Almaden Quicksilver Park on a run on November 3, 2012 at 8am. Four fully stocked aid stations will be available during the run. Runners will also be given food at the end of the race – they are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The courses will be hilly with approximately 40% single track and 60% dirt roads.

his year the Almaden Run Turkey Run event will be hosted by the Bret Harte Booster Club, with support from Skip’s Tire and Auto Centers. Registration for the Almaden Valley Girls Softball League (AVGSL) is now open for the 2013 season. The 100% volunteer-run organization will use an online system for parents to register their daughters for a team this year.
Get yourself in shape and join the staff at Almaden Quicksilver Park for a challenging Healthy Trails Hike on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 10am to 1:30pm.
This hike will be rigorous. It will cover 5.2 miles and wind through the Deep Gulch, English Camp, Mine Hill, and Castillero Trails.
StartOrganic will be hosting a free trade farmers market at The Studio by Angi on October 20, 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Instead of paying cash for organic vegetables, flowers and seeds, participants are encouraged to barter and exchange what they bring from their home gardens. StartOrganic will also bring a great deal of its own organic goods.
GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors) is a form of cancer that has no cure and affects thousands of Americans every year. The Walk for a Cure was started by a GIST patient in New York 12 years ago. On Sunday, October 21st from 10:30am to 2pm, residents of San Jose will have the opportunity to raise money for research, generate awareness and provide support for GIST patients and their caregivers.

Learn more about the exciting pastime known as geocaching! The Almaden Quicksilver Park will be hosting a free, docent-guided geocaching adventure on Saturday, October 20 from 8:45am to 12pm.
Participants will be provided with a GPS tracking device and will be instructed to find 6 to 7 “caches” hidden within the park. It’s a modern-day treasure hunt! Bring sun protection, water, snacks and sturdy hiking shoes and meet at the Wood Road parking lot.
Almaden Branch Library will be hosting a “Meet the Author” event in the program room on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 4pm.
Thriller author Hannah Jayne will lead a workshop for community members interested in learning more about the life of an author. Jayne’s trilogy of novels is known as the “Underworld Detection Agency Chronicles,” and individual titles include Under Wraps, Under Attack, and Under Suspicion.
