Almaden Senior Center Taking Cruise on USS Potomac – UPDATED 2022
Join Almaden Senior Center for a cruise aboard the USS Potomac. USS Potomac served as Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Presidential Yacht from 1936 until his death in 1945. It was known as F.D.R.’S “Floating White House.”
$5 million was spent over a 12-year period to restore the 165-foot-long vessel as a memorial to the president who authored the New Deal and led the United States during the Great Depression and the World War II years.
The cruise is 3 hours in duration. You will also learn about the Historic Bridges of San Francisco Bay. The price is $110 per person, which includes the cruise, transportation to and from the ship, and lunch with dessert.
The cruise is Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 10:30am-1:30pm. Meet at the Almaden Senior Center for pick-up at 8:15am. Almaden Senior Center is inside the Almaden Community Center located at 6445 Camden Avenue, San Jose, CA 95120.
