My First Art Class Programs in Almaden Valley
My First Art Class is an art program for children ages 18 months to 5 years. The program offers an art environment where your child can flourish creatively.
Because children are especially free in their artistic expression, they need that gift nourished. My First Art Class instructors believe that everyone is creative and artistic and all children need is the right environment to thrive — and that it’s the process, not the finished product, that is most important when tapping into the creative spirit.
Each week, the program offers an exciting theme using an array of art materials such as paint, clay, glitter, stickers, collage, markers, and much more. They set up an art environment with five stations. The children move freely around the room experiencing the art materials at their own pace, having fun with art for 45 minutes and finishing the hour with lively singing and dancing.
My First Art Class helps to improve the following:
- Fine motor skills are naturally developed with holding brushes, crayons, and glue paddles, as well as peeling off stickers.
- Attention span naturally increases. Because the children choose where to begin, they are more likely to be engaged for longer periods of time.
- Self-confidence is built by children experiencing the ability to say, “I did it by myself!”
Classes are held at the Almaden Community Center and run year-round. See the program Schedule. You can also register online at San Jose Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services. Search for “My First Art Class.”
