Almaden Little League Registration for Spring 2025Almaden Little League Registration for Spring 2025 baseball and softball is currently open! From the Almaden Little League website:

BASEBALL:

Spring Season
Our rec season is our most popular season and runs from March through late May (registration roughly Nov 10 to Jan 10). We offer as many divisions as demand allows. Historically that means we offer t-ball, coach pitch, machine pitch (A), kid pitch (AA), AAA, Majors, Juniors, and Seniors divisions. These teams play against each other and possibly other teams from other leagues in the same division. At the end of the regular season, teams in AA and above play a tournament to determine an Almaden Little League champion. The AAA and Majors championship teams will play in a tournament against the champions (of the same division) from other nearby leagues (i.e., Tournament of Champions).

SOFTBALL:

Spring Season

Almaden Senior Association Annual Soup Party

Almaden Senior Association Annual Soup PartyThe Almaden Senior Association Annual Soup Party will be on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, from 12:00pm – 2:00 pm (soup served at noon). Homemade Chicken Taco, Corn Chowder, Sausage Rice, and Pumpkin Squash soup will be served with fresh bread and cookies.

Ticket sales will begin on Monday, Jan. 6, and continue every MWF from 8am – 10am in the lobby of the Almaden Community Center. Cost is $10, cash or check only.

The Almaden Senior Association is an all-volunteer organization of Active Adults (50+) which initiates, supports and promotes programs and activities for the active adult population at the city-operated Almaden Community Center. The Association meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month. Annual membership is free, which includes a monthly emailed newsletter plus discounts for classes for Active Adults 50+ at the Almaden Community Center. About Almaden Library Storytime

Storytime is designed to accommodate a mix of ages and invites the entire family to participate in early literacy activities such as stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities. Storytime is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of reading and learning for all ages.

Free, with limited capacity.

Seating for Storytime is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of tickets will be distributed at the Information Desk before Storytime.

This program is developed to align with the Early Education Quality Standards.

Leland High School Drama Fall 2024 ProductionTickets are on sale now for the Leland High School Drama Fall 2024 production of The Importance of Being Earnest, “a trivial comedy for serious people!”

The Importance of Being Earnest is about two friends, Jack and Algernon, who lead double lives, both assuming the identity of a fictional man named “Ernest” to escape societal obligations and pursue love. As it becomes more difficult to keep up their charade, Jack and Algernon find themselves in increasingly ridiculous situations. Along the way, the two friends learn about love, honesty and above all, the importance of being earnest.

2024 Run Turkey Run

2024 run turkey runIt’s time for that great Almaden Valley Thanksgiving tradition, the Bret Harte Athletics & Booster Club’s 2024 Run Turkey Run 5K/10K! This year the family-fun turkey run will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 at 8:30 am. The run starts and ends at Leland High School in scenic Almaden Valley, San Jose. Both the 5K and 10K courses are run on level terrain on the paved trails along the Alamitos Creek and the Open Space area.

Almaden Valley Real Estate Market September 2024 – The September single family real estate market in Almaden Valley definitely favored sellers. Although the number of for sale listings was the same as August, the number of sold listings increased 50%. When compared to the same time last year, there was an increase in number of homes for sale and a 50% higher number of sold listings. Sellers were happy to see that the average sale price per square foot edged up from $945 in August to $987 in September, and up from $950 the same time last year.

Although the Almaden Valley real estate market favors sellers, now can be a great time to buy. During the holiday season, we tend to see a bit of a cooling trend. Les Misérables School Edition at Pioneer High School

Les Miserables School Edition at Pioneer High SchoolGet your tickets now for Les Misérables School Edition at Pioneer High School! Pioneer High School’s Glue Factory along with the Advanced Drama will be presenting Les Misérables School Edition nightly from Oct. 23-26, 2024 at the Steve Dini Stage at Pioneer High School. Les Misérables School Edition is a version of the classic musical by Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schöneberg, based on the novel by Victor Hugo. The Glue Factory Players are a group of adults at Pioneer High School who put on a musical every October to raise money for the school’s drama program.

Reserved seating can be purchased online at phsdrama.ludus.com. General seating will be sold at the door each night starting at 6:30 pm.

Students $7
Seniors $10
Adults $15

All sales are final and will be considered a generous donation.
