The Corny Crow Show with Steve Chaney in Almaden Valley
Ventriloquist, Steve Chaney, is coming to Almaden Valley with with The Corny Crow Show. Corny and Steve visit 50 libraries annually presenting a fun and entertaining program for all ages.
During each show they entertain and talk about various forms of puppetry and their uses, including marionettes, sock puppets, hand puppets, and people puppets. They deliver a comical presentation that includes audience participation, juggling with Corny, a magic trick or two, and plenty of laughter.
Steve asks for volunteers and everyone has fun turning them into people puppets with funny character voices that is always a hit with the audience.
Steve also discusses what ventriloquism is, a little history of “throwing your voice,” and teaches the audience a little ventriloquism to practice on their own.
He also discusses the importance of imagination and reading. He will talk about and show several books on puppetry, juggling, magic, jokes, and ventriloquism.
Steve tells a story of how he checked out his first book on ventriloquism when he was 8 years old. Steve’s warmth and humor comes through in all his performances.
The Corny Crow Show is at Almaden Branch Library on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 3-4pm.
